Before people started to live in this area, it was an empty desert area with small (2500 square meters) recreational animal farms. In the late 1970's people started to buy land here and build houses, and the government also built 3 schools to accommodate the growing number of students in the public schools.
As of 2006, it has 8 public schools, 5 private schools, 4 kinder garden facilities, 2 hospitals, a Medical College (Kuwait University), private and commercial residence areas, and numerous conciliates and embassies.
Jabriya is one of the best situated areas in Kuwait. It has easy access to highways that can transport you to any place in the country.
